Anmol Ambani, the elder son of former billionaire Anil Ambani, lashed out against a new round of social restrictions in India, underscoring rising discontent among some businesses in a country that’s battling its worst-ever surge in coronavirus cases.
In a rare instance of a scion publicly criticizing government policies, the 29-year-old former executive director of Reliance Capital Ltd. let out a barrage of tweets lambasting the new semi-lockdown rules for disproportionately hurting smaller businesses and enriching larger ones.
“This is not about health. This is about control,” according to a Twitter post on Tuesday from the son of the tycoon, some of whose businesses are in bankruptcy. “To control every aspect of your life.” ....

BJP will bring anti-people policies to Puducherry if it is elected: Cong

Secretary Sanjay Dutt, on Sunday alleged that if the NDA was voted to power in Puducherry in the April 6 assembly elections, all anti people policies of the BJP would be automatically enforced here.
Addressing reporters at the party office here, Dutt said although the Prime Minister had visited Puducherry for poll campaigns, he had not projected AINRC leader N Rangasamy as the Chief Ministerial candidate.
Charging the BJP with having adopted all obstructionist policies to stall development of the union territory during the five-year Congress rule, the AICCSecretary said the national party supported the plea of full statehood for Puducherry and was for waiver of loans due to the Centre. ....

Govt's expert panel allows clinical trials for third dose of Covaxin


The expert panel of India s drug regulator, DCGI, has permitted Bharat Biotech to give a third dose of Covaxin to a few volunteers in its clinical trials of the COVID-19 vaccine, sources said.
Bharat Biotech presented amendments to the subject expert committee of the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) in the approved Phase 2 clinical trial protocol for administration of booster dose six months after second dose.
The firm presented amendments in the approved Phase 2 clinical trial protocol for administration of booster dose after six months after second dose. After detailed deliberation, the committee recommended that the firm should conduct the booster dose study only in 6 mcg cohort and also should follow up the subjects at least for six months after the third dose, the SEC said. ....
