80% people receive Covid vaccine jabs in Pune region, Solapur at 67%

Pune: Healthcare staff turning up for receiving vaccine jabs in the region is increasing and yesterday, Pune city reported 80% vaccination. 6,880 staff was provided vaccine jabs against Covid infection in the region, including Solapur and Satara districts. According to a report by the Indian Express, Pune city officials had set a target of vaccinating 8,600 healthcare staff. 
Solapur district provided 67% vaccination shots whereas Satara witnessed 108% vaccination as 1,730 staff got vaccinated, the report said. The listed number of recipients was at 1,600. According to the report, Pune district itself saw 76.4% vaccinations.  ....

Pune: The second round of Covid vaccination for healthcare staff would begin from February 16 in the district. The decision was taken by the officials of director of health services in a meeting on January 22.
To get done with the vaccination of all the healthcare staff, the session centres would be raised. Because of limited session centres and technical issues in the CoWIN portal, the vaccination target achieved since the beginning of the drive has not matched the expectation.  ....

Move to call & inoculate helps cut vaccine wastage in Maha | India News


PUNE: On-the-spot vaccination of registered but unscheduled beneficiaries has drastically cut vaccine wastage in Maharashtra, with officials saying they have been able to completely use the day’s last-opened vials.
Each vaccine vial, containing about 10 doses, needs to be used within four hours of being opened. But vaccinators, during the three days before the walk-in policy was implemented, said doses from the day’s last vials were going waste because of low beneficiary turnout.
Observers said 285 session sites due to low turnouts had no choice but to discard doses after administering the first three to five doses from the last vial. They estimate that an average of 1,000 doses was being wasted every day. But that has reduced considerably, ever since site in-charges were allowed to utilise remaining doses by calling colleagues who have registered on CoWIN app. They have been allowed to do so if the day’s beneficiary count is low. ....
