Now, once floundering programs will be flushed with cash, after the island receives $604 million in American Rescue Act funds. After months of penny-pinching measures, a huge debate over what the government should prioritize lies ahead. Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero has the authority to allocate the rescue plan s funds locally. The Guam Economic Development Authority has asked for $30 million to prop up suffering small businesses, and the Guam Visitors Bureau asked for $38 million to repair Matapang beach park and handle operations. ....

Vaccine outreach scheduled for FSM community on Guam Pacific Daily News On Saturday and Sunday, there will be two venues for COVID-19 vaccinations that aim to administer doses to members of Guam s Federated States of Micronesia community. In partnership with the Mayors’ Council of Guam, Federated States of Micronesia Consulate Office, Public Health, the FSM Association of Guam, Micronesian Resource Center One-Stop Shop, Chuukese Catholic Faith Association, University of Guam Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program and other FSM community organizations and leaders: The Guam Regional Medical City, will hold a COVID-19 vaccination outreach 2 to 5 p.m. April 17 at GRMC in Dededo.
