DAVE MOSIER/ independent editor Three people were sentenced, and four people entered changes of plea during criminal hearings held this past week in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court. Noah Johnson, 32, of Elida, was sentenced to 12 years in prison, with credit for one day already served, on a charge of attempted gross sexual imposition, a felony of the fifth degree. Johnson was also classified as a Tier 1 sex offender and will have to register every year for the next 15 years. Amy Blatteau, 43, of Van Wert, was sentenced to one year of community control, to include 60 days in jail, beginning June 6, on a charge of operating a vehicle while impaired, a misdemeanor of the first degree. After serving 15 days in jail, Blatteau may opt for electronically monitored house arrest for the remaining 44 days of her jail term. She must also undergo a substance abuse assessment and any treatment recommended, her driver’s license was suspended for four years, effective Novemb ....
Van Wert County Court News (Week of May 2, 2021) Wednesday, May 5, 2021 2:26 PM VAN WERT – The following individuals were seen in the Van Wert County Court of Common Pleas by Judge Martin Burchfield: FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 2021 CHANGE OF PLEA Mackenzie Shepherd, 20, Van Wert, changed her plea to guilty to an amended charge of Theft, M1. She was then sentenced to two years community control, 52 hours of community service, mental health, and substance abuse assessments and treatments, and 30 days jail at later date. She was also ordered to pay restitution of $20 to Vancrest Assisted Living, monthly probation fee, costs, partial appointed counsel fees, and one year ....

Eunice Bernhardt, 57, of Ohio City, was sentenced to up to nine years in prison on several sex-related charges. Judge Martin D. Burchfield sentenced Bernhardt to 6-9 years in prison on one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor, a felony of the second degree; 4-6 years in prison on a second count of pandering obscenity involving a minor, also a second-degree felony; and 12 months in prison on one count of pandering obscenity involving a minor, a fourth-degree felony.
