New Delhi:Â A day after the Supreme Court took suo moto cognisance of the COVID-19 crisis across the country and said it may transfer cases being heard by various high courts to itself, the bench said others were unfairly “imputing motives” to the judges.
Several high courts in the country, particularly the Delhi and Bombay high courts, have been coming down heavily on the Centre for the lack of adequate oxygen supply.
He headed the Indian judiciary during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic ensuring that the apex court kept functioning albeit via video conferencing. “I must say that last day has evoked mixed feelings which is difficult to describe. I have been a part of the ceremonial bench before but did not feel such mixed feelings which could enable me to say things clearly,” he said. “I leave this court with happiness, goodwill with very fond memories of wonderful arguments, excellent presentation, good behaviour, commitment to the cause of justice from not only Bar but all connected with it,” Justice Bobde, who was speaking on his last day in the apex court, said.

Outgoing Chief Justice SA Bobde wanted Shah Rukh Khan to mediate the Ayodhya temple-mosque dispute and the actor had even agreed, but it did not work out. The anecdote came up during a virtual farewell for Justice Bobde today.
Vikas Singh, the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, dropped the nugget during his tribute to Justice Bobde. Justice Bobde asked me whether Shah Rukh Khan was willing to mediate in the Ayodhya dispute. I spoke with SRK and he was happy to be in the mediation but unfortunately, mediation did not work, Mr Singh said, as Justice Bobde listened.
