Jo C. Goode FALL RIVER Two people were taken to the hospital after a facade on a South Main Street building collapsed on them about 12:30 Tuesday. A Fall River Police Department news release indicates that two men, ages 34 and 25, were taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. Police described the 34-year-old s condition as critical but stable, while reports indicate the younger victim is in stable condition. According to Glenn Hathaway, director of inspectional services for the City of Fall River, work was being done on the roof of the building at 285 South Main St. when workers tried to remove loose bricks, causing the facade to collapse on two pedestrians. ....

FALL RIVER Mayor Paul Coogan says he doesn’t understand why the owner of a local HVAC company has publicly lambasted the general contractor in charge of the $263 million B.M.C. Durfee High School construction project. “He’s never come to me to discuss it,” Coogan said, referring to accusations of incompetency lodged against Boston-based Suffolk Construction Company by Dwight.
