Police warning after children caught swimming in disused quarry in Pendle Police are urging parents to keep an eye on their children and to educate them about the dangers of swimming in open water. Friday, 4th June 2021, 12:30 pm The warning follows an incident earlier this week where youngsters were found swimming in the water of a disused quarry in the area of Colne Golf Club. A spokesman for Colne and West Craven Police said: Parents, do you know what your children are doing? It has been brought to our attention that children have been swimming in the water of a disused quarry in the area of Colne Golf Club. Now that the weather is finally warming up, we understand how tempting it might be to go for a swim, but we ask you to please remind your children of the dangers of open water. ....
The helicopter chased a car along the A56 around 12.40am on Thursday. A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “Our officers assisted Greater Manchester Police and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) in stopping a black VW Passat, suspected to be stolen, being driven from Bury towards Haslingden. “The vehicle was followed by NPAS into Accrington before being abandoned on Barnfield Street. “Two men ran from the vehicle, and went into hiding nearby, but were quickly located by the helicopter and our police dogs. “Two locked safes were recovered from the vehicle. “A 19-year-old and a 26-year-old, both from Accrington, were arrested and are currently in custody in Greater Manchester.” ....
