TEF Donates Six Bicycles to RSLPF April 28, 2021 Share this post: The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) added six more bicycles to its Bicycle Patrol Unit on Monday 26th April 2021, courtesy of the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association’s Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF). The new Fuji SR Suntour bicycles will be used in the Gros Islet district and compliment a previous donation of bicycles to the RSLPF by the Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority (SLASPA) after the Bicycle Patrol Unit was piloted nearly three years ago. Special Police Constable Charged for Hosting Unlawful Gathering March 16, 2021 Share this post: On Sunday, March 14, 2021, officers attached to the Gros Islet Police Station received information that a social gathering, with accompanying loud music, was being hosted at a location in Beausejour, Gros Islet. According to officials from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, no permits for social gatherings or the operation of loud speakers have been granted by the office of the Commissioner of Police, nor any other duly authorized individual. “Officers proceeded to the said location and a conversation with the apparent host ensued. Requests were made to shut down the activity which were not adhered to. The host of the activity, who failed to comply with the lawful directives was subsequently arrested” a release stated. ....
Charges Laid in Gros Islet and Soufriere Attacks and Curfew Breach March 12, 2021 Share this post: The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force on Friday afternoon announced via the force’s official Facebook page preferment of charges stemming from breaches of the island’s COVID-19 Protocol in Gros Islet and Soufriere. According to the release at approximately 8:00 pm on Sunday, March 7, 2021, officers attached to the Soufriere Police Station responded to reports of violations of the various COVID-19 related protocols, including violating the curfew and mass crowd gathering restrictions, near a bar, at Baron’s Drive, Soufriere. On arrival, officers were confronted by a disorderly crowd, who refused to adhere to the lawful request to disperse with some individuals in the vicinity proceeding to hurl missiles at officers, in the process causing damage to a marked police vehicle. Police Officers attached to the Gros Islet Police Station have formally arrested and charged a female in relation to alleged breaches of the COVID-19 protocols. About 11 am on Wednesday, January 27, 2020, at Pigeon Island, Gros Islet, a female non-national was approached by Peace Officers (COVID Wardens), after they observed that she was not adhering to the mask-wearing requirement in a public place. The officers reported that she was cautioned to do so, but refused, proceeding to hurl expletives at them. She was taken into custody for the refusal to adhere to the enacted laws. The female in question has been identified as, Johanna Koivulchto, a 30-year-old national of Finland, residing at Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. ....
