For “Good Folk”, the two-day concert series or “folk experience” held in Queanbeyan over Easter, achieved the joint purposes of entertaining a lot of people and signalling that the National Folk Festival is alive, well and not going away any time soon. To be sure, there were a few grumbles from purists missing the experience at Exhibition Park in what was a scaled down event of 22 concerts, who asked why it couldn’t have been held in Canberra. ....
General Johnston Statue Relocated In Downtown Dalton To Huff House Saturday, February 6, 2021 The statue of Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston that has stood in downtown Dalton at the intersection of Hamilton and Crawford Streets was removed in the early morning hours Saturday to be relocated to the Huff House near downtown. The Huff House, located on Selvidge Street, is home to the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society and served as General Johnston’s headquarters during the Civil War. The statue of General Johnston is the property of the United Daughters of the Confederacy which commissioned it and placed it downtown in 1912. That group made the decision to have the statue moved from downtown to its new home. Money from private donors was used to fund the move and no taxpayer money was used for the project. ....
One sent to hospital after three-car wreck in Salina The Salina Journal A Salina woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries after she was involved in an accident at Fourth and Crawford Streets Wednesday. Salina police said the accident occurred at 8 a.m. Wednesday morning when a 2001 Dodge Duragno, driven by Dalton Murphy, 21, of Great Bend, was northbound on Fourth Street and stopped at Crawford. Murphy continued into the intersection and was hit by a 2017 Nissan Altima, driven by Cecilia Cabral, 32, of Salina, who was eastbound on Crawford. Both vehicles spun into the westbound lanes and were struck by a westbound 2019 Ford Fusion, driven by a 40-year-old Baldwin City man. ....
