I knew our responsibility as the University’s student news organization was to keep our community informed of the crisis that was disrupting our lives. A year later, I couldn’t be more proud of the work this organization has done to accomplish that goal. From our COVID-19 tracker to our coverage of life at UH during a public health crisis, The Cougar’s staff continuously put its best foot forward for the UH community. ....
Moody Towers North housing available for Fall 2021 Moody Towers North is now a housing option for Fall 2021. | Kathryn Lenihan/The Cougar Moody Towers North will remain a housing option for UH students for the 2021-2022 academic year. Despite , University students can choose Moody Towers North for housing this upcoming fall semester. Students who have already selected their housing option and would like to switch to Moody Towers can do so if space is available. Residents also have until April 30 to amend their housing agreement without penalty. Although, students won’t be able to assign themselves to a on-campus bed space after May 31. ....

White had not played in a game all season until Thursday. | Kathryn Lenihan/The Cougar UPDATE: Houston senior forward Fabian White Jr. scored three points and had a rebound in nine minutes of action against Wichita State on Thursday evening. “He made a couple of nice plays and he’ll get better as he goes,” Sampson said. “I was encouraged by what I saw from Fabian tonight.” Sampson added that the original plan was to play White against East Carolina, which was scheduled to take place on Wednesday at Fertitta Center, but the game was postponed due to COVID-19 issues within the Pirates’ program. ....
UH track and field shines in H-Town Speed City Series UH track and field athletes set record performances over the weekend en route to nine first-place finishes. | Kathryn Lenihan/The Cougar The Houston track and field team put on a series of spectacular performances en route to a combined nine first-place finishes in the second installment of the H-Town Speed City Series meets on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, all eyes were on Cougars women’s team who put up dominant performances throughout the day, racking up five first-place finishes and capping off the day with 173 points that earned them the top spot among the team standings. ....

The Cougars were in the midst of an 11-0 run, and the Owls had just fallen behind by 25 points. As the players chirped for a bit during a timeout, UH head coach Kelvin Sampson had one thought, go get Gorham off the court. ....
