Date Time Expansion of popular mice workshops for farmers & new biological control research Minister for Agriculture Adam Marshall has today announced a new series of mice management workshops for farmers contending with mice plague activity across parts of the State. Mr Marshall said the series of 16 extra workshops followed nine earlier events which were fully subscribed and very well received by producers, looking to strengthen their on-farm mice management programs. “It is critical farmers have access to the best tools and information to manage mice and that’s exactly what we’re giving them,” Mr Marshall said. “To help achieve this, we have secured Australia’s leading mice expert, Steve Henry from the CSRIO, to provide in person advice to landholders. Steve is a powerful asset in our arsenal who has been researching mice for over 25 years. ....
AustralianFarmers Breweries of all sizes are increasingly dealing direct with barley growers and the simplified trading method is paying off for farmers like Chris and Samantha Greenwood. Brewing giant Asahi made headlines recently when it re-wrote its supply chain arrangements so it could source 90 per cent of its malting barley direct from growers in New South Wales and Victoria. This means Asahi will now source 40,000 tonnes of barley direct from seven growers in southern New South Wales with northern New South Wales growers expected to sign on before this year’s harvest. A further 40,000 tonnes is also being sourced through 30 Victorian growers. ....
5 March 2021 Solar farms in New South Wales are to bear the brunt of new downgrades to the Australian Energy Market Operator’s marginal loss factor figures in the coming financial year, a result of both increased local generation and more imports from Victoria and Queensland congesting the network. AEMO’s provisional calculations show solar farms the Riverina region of NSW will be particularly hard hit, with many looking at 6 to 8 points knocked off their MLFs. Solar generators in central Queensland, meanwhile, look set to enjoy the biggest boosts – in some cases by as much as 6 points – as do solar farms in the troubled north west region of north-western Victoria, though from a lower base. ....
