The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has developed an Advanced Chaff Technology to safeguard naval ships against missile attack.
Chaff is a passive expendable electronic countermeasure technology used worldwide to protect naval ships from enemy’s radar and Radio Frequency (RF) missile seekers. The importance of this development lies in the fact that very less quantity of chaff material deployed in the air acts as decoy to deflect enemy’s missiles for safety of the ships.
Defence Laboratory Jodhpur, a DRDO laboratory, has indigenously developed three variants of this critical technology Short Range Chaff Rocket, Medium Range Chaff Rocket and Long Range Chaff Rocket meeting Indian Navy’s qualitative requirements. The development of Advanced Chaff Technology by DRDO lab is another step towards Atmanirbhar Bharat. ....

11th pay commission submits recommendations to CM
The 11th Kerala Pay Revision Commission headed by K. Mohandas has fixed the minimum basic salary of State government employees and teachers at ₹23,000 and the maximum at ₹1.66,800.
The other recommendations include 4% to 10% of the basic pay as House Rent Allowance (HRA), minimum pension and family pension of ₹11,500, and additional allowance of ₹1,000 for pensioners above 80 years. ....

Maritime Theatre Command to take shape next year | India News

NEW DELHI: The country’s first Maritime Theatre Command (MTC) is set to take concrete shape by next year, with its commander-in-chief having full operational control over the western and eastern naval fleets, maritime strike fighter jets and transport aircraft, two amphibious infantry brigades and coastal patrol vessels.
The MTC will be the first new “geographical” theatre command to be created as part of the biggest-ever military restructuring plan to build an integrated land-air-sea war-fighting machinery for greater combat punch in a more cost-effective manner.
Top defence sources on Tuesday said the final MTC plan will be submitted to the government for approval “within the next few days”. To be headed by a senior three-star naval officer (vice admiral), the MTC will have its headquarters at the Karwar naval base in coastal Karnataka. ....
