Vacant seats to be filled to boost efficiency of ACE July 20, 2021 LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to fill the vacant seats in order to enhance the efficiency of Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE). The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Irum Bukhari at the Civil Secretariat here Monday. Director General ACE Gohar Nafees, Additional Secretary Admin Zenab Khan, Deputy Secretary Establishment Kamran Khan and others attended the meeting. The ACS directed to ensure merit policy while recruiting officials on priority basis so that pending cases could be disposed of rapidly. The officers’ requisitions are pending with Police, Prosecution, Communication & Works, Irrigation and Planning & Development, she said and added the representatives of departments should also be called in the next meeting to overcome shortage of officers. ....

LAHORE: Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Wednesday arrested former commissioner of Rawalpindi retired Capt Muhammad Mahmood and land acquisition collector Abbas Tabish for their alleged involvement in the ring road scam. ACE Director General (DG) Gohar Nafees, addressing a press conference, said a case was registered against the former commissioner and director of Rawalpindi ring road project and land acquisition collector after holding a detailed inquiry. He said neither approval was sought from Punjab chief minister for alignment of the ring road, nor any no objection certificates (NOCs) were taken from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the National Highway Authority (NHA). ....
