Suspect in custody in Wyo. homicide, arson investigation

Police officials in the Wyoming community of Torrington say that they have one person in custody, relating to multiple crimes including “Homicide, Arson, and Vehicle Theft.”
At approximately 6:10 am, a fire was reported on in the 300 block of East Valley Road in Torrington.
“While the Torrington Volunteer Fire Department was working to control the fire, additional information was received by our officers that was suspicious in nature,” Torrington Police say. “The fire is being investigated as a suspected arson at this time.”

Officers say they conducted a follow-up investigation and a deceased person was ultimately located in the 1300 block of East 17th Avenue in Torrington.

In an effort to keep the public informed on the investigation of a recent death in Torrington, authorities there have issued a rare statement regarding the ongoing investigation.
Last Friday morning, officers conducted a welfare check at 600 East 18th Avenue in Torrington, and forced entry into the home after finding exigent circumstances.
Inside, they found the resident, 56-year-old Troy Ouderkirk deceased, and determined he had been dead for some time.
Police Chief Matt Johnson told KNEB News his department and the Goshen County Coroner’s Office are still investigating, confirming a timeline and awaiting toxicology results, however, at this time foul play is not suspected.
