Coimbatore: Revenue department and police checked vehicles from Kerala for e-passes at the nine entry points of the district on Saturday in view of the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the neighbouring state.
Officials began inspection at Valparai, Meenakshipuram and Govindapuram in Anamalai, Walayar check post near Madukkarai, Anaikatti, Gopalpuram and Nadupuni in Pollachi and Veerappagoundenpudur and Gopanari in Kinathukidavu from morning. Those who were not carrying the pass were asked to log into the e-registration portal to obtain it. This led to huge traffic snarls at check posts.
The state government has also made the pass mandatory for vehicles leaving for Kerala.
