Negotiators used at residence on Cowichan Lake Road after worried friend alerts RCMP SHARE ON: A food delivery by a friend turned into a standoff on Cowichan Lake Road Wednesday. On April 14th the North Cowichan / Duncan RCMP were contacted by a Duncan resident who had concerns for the safety of a friend, after going there to deliver some food. While there the friend noticed some unnerving behaviour from the friend who said they were not OK when asked, and their adult son began yelling for them to leave. North Cowichan / Duncan front line members went to the residence on Cowichan Lake Road shortly after 4p.m. and attempted to make contact with the residents inside it. Through their interaction they confirmed there were two people in the house, however they were not able to enter the residence to check on the occupants. ....
BC police investigating after 6-year-old dies at motel Police on Vancouver Island are investigating after the death of a child on Friday. According to Duncan RCMP, at 9 pm, emergency services were called an area motel after hearing about an unresponsive child. First responders attempted life-saving efforts and transported the child to a local hospital. Despite numerous life-saving attempts, the 6-year-old was pronounced dead at the hospital. The North Cowichan Duncan General Investigation Section has assumed conduct of the investigation with support from the Forensic Identification Section. Officers will remain in the area today. In addition to NCDGIS, the BC Coroners Service is also looking to find the cause of death. ....
VANCOUVER Police and coroners on Vancouver Island are investigating after the death of a child found unresponsive at a motel in Duncan Friday night. North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP and BC Emergency Health Services were called to the motel just after 9 p.m. for a report of an unresponsive child, the RCMP detachment said in a news release Saturday. The six-year-old child was transported to a local hospital, but could not be saved, police said. Investigators remained at the scene Saturday and expect to be in the area Sunday as well, according to police. Police did not say whether they believe the child s death is suspicious. The detachment s general and forensic investigation sections are looking into the incident, along with frontline officers, police said. ....
