New Delhi [India], April 6 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly to pass an order on April 20 on the plea filed by a Congress leader seeking disqualification of 10 MLAs, who had joined BJP in July 2019.
A three-judge bench of the Apex Court, headed by the Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde and Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian was hearing the plea filed by Girish Chodankar.
The bench posted the matter for further hearing on April 21 as it was told by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that the Speaker has agreed to pass the order on the disqualification petitions on April 20. ....

Panaji, April 6 : The Speaker of the Goa legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar, on Tuesday informed the Supreme Court through the Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, that he would pronounce his final order related to the disqualification of 10 BJP MLAs on April 20.
The Speaker s assurance came in the course of a hearing at the apex court before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde, advocate Abhijit Gosavi, counsel for state Congress president Girish Chodankar said.
Earlier, Patnekar while hearing the petition filed by Chodankar had said that he would be pronouncing his order related to the disqualification of 10 MLAs on April 29. ....

Panaji, April 5 : Speaker of the Goa legislative assembly Rajesh Patnekar is likely to pronounce two separate orders in the two disqualification petitions filed against 13 BJP legislators on April 29, the petitioners said on Monday.
The Speaker, on Monday, heard separate petitions filed by state Congress president Girish Chodankar and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party MLA Sudin Dhavalikar.
Chodankar s lawyer Abhijit Gosavi said that Patnekar had assured him that the final order would be pronounced on April 29 and during the day s hearing had rejected an application filed by 10 BJP MLAs seeking cross-examination of the petitioner. ....

Panaji, March 12 : Congress state president Girish Chodankar on Friday urged Speaker of the state Legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar to deliver his order on the disqualification petition filed against 10 now-former Congress MLAs at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters after a hearing in the matter at the Assembly complex, Chodankar also accused Patnekar of dragging his feet over the issue and said that the Speaker s office had crossed the limit of three months set by the apex court to decide on matters related to the disqualification of elected representatives. ....
