In his first town hall meeting since the COVID crisis hit more than a year ago, Edmonds Mayor Mike Nelson issued a call for community action to battle the rising tide of hate, hate crimes and hate speech. Joining Nelson on the dais were Edmonds Schools Superintendent Dr. Gustavo Balderas, acting Edmonds Chief of Police Michelle Bennett, NAACP Snohomish Chapter Vice President Louis Harris, Edmonds Diversity Commission Member Nikki Glaros, and Diversity Commission Youth Representative Caitlin Chung. ....

This recent trend showcases small art galleries, all under 5 inches. ARTspot is presenting a free little art gallery inspired by @free little art gallery. Visitors are invited to take a piece of miniature art, leave a piece or both! All are welcome, but please leave the tiny patrons and furniture in the gallery. The free little art gallery is located in the kiosk on the front of ARTspot at 408 Main St. Opening night features art work by Joan Ward and @tracykayfelixart. MY EDMONDS NEWS Posted: March 2, 2021 Members of Team We Run for Hunni BLM More than 350 people participated in last weekend’s inaugural Challenge for Change Virtual 5K, part of the Edmonds School District’s Black Lives Matter Month of Action. The event raised more than $7,300 for additional Black Lives Matter Year of Purpose events, such as Arts in Action on March 12. Arts is Action is a student talent showcase honoring student activism, hosted online through the Edmonds Center for the Arts. The run organizer was Courtney Wooten of Suburbia Rising, described as an educational resource for progressive people in suburban and rural areas looking to bring passion and real change to their neighborhoods. Wooten said the event was created “to bring awareness and action on health and wellness both physical and mental especially for our communities of color and the Black community.” ....
