The pandemic has shut down many events, yet the arts community continues to thrive. Fourteen Atlanta artists are sharing personal works in a new group exhibition that opened this month titled “Hidden Truths.” The exhibition asks two questions: “How did you deal with your mental health?” and “How do you define shadow work?” According to the exhibit’s curator, Courtney Brooks, shadow work is an examination of the inner self and an acknowledgment of the flaws that we may carry. ....

Ryan is accused of being among those who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 and was charged by the Justice Department earlier this month. To raise money for her legal defense, she took to online sites PayPal, Fundly and Infusionsoft by Keap, but those companies removed her donation capabilities amid widespread complaints. After the riot, McKinney activist Courtney Brooks launched a social media campaign against Ryan and other North Texans who attended the capital rally. But even after Ryan was arrested, Brooks wasn’t finished; she also spearheaded the effort to have the broker removed from those payment services. ....
A former Democratic candidate for Collin County Commissioners Court, Brooks said she is “appalled” by those Realtors’ actions and wants them to lose their jobs. She hopes the FBI charges them “to the fullest extent of the law.” “I m a military wife, and my husband and I think that the insurrection was the most un-American thing that we ve seen in a long time,” Brooks said. “And I just wanted them to pay the price for their actions.” Brooks may be getting her wish. Friday, Frisco real estate broker Jennifer Jenna Leigh Ryan was arrested by the FBI, which also executed a search warrant at her Carrollton residence. She returned home later that day and asked Trump for a pardon during an interview with CBS-DFW. ....
