$40 Million Dollar Warrnambool Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade Approved
Wannon Water has welcomed the Environment Protection Authority’s decision to approve its $40 million Warrnambool Sewage Treatment Plant Upgrade Project.
Following its rigorous assessment of Wannon Water’s application, the EPA yesterday issued a Development Licence for the construction of the plant upgrade to go ahead.
“Following many months of consultation and technical review, EPA has now approved the project but has also set very strict conditions that will protect the environment and safeguard the community,” said Steve Adamthwaite, EPA Manager Development Assessments.

Terang Police to conduct Operation Secure this Saturday
Terang Police will host a safe plate day at a community sporting match this weekend, to help prevent the theft of number plates within the community.
Operation Secure will be conducted at the Terang Recreation Reserve this Saturday, during the Hampden League matchup between Terang-Mortlake and Koroit.
Police, with the assistance of Terang SES and Terang Rotary will be replacing vehicle number plate screws, with anti-theft number plate screws free of charge.

Keeping the cheese machines going


Former chief engineer at the Stanhope dairy factory (now owned by Fonterra) Ken Curnow returned recently to inspect the new cheesemaking equipment.

Fitter and turner apprentice Ken Curnow rode his bike eight kilometres to work every day when he first started out in the dairy industry.
Mr Curnow spent a large part of his working life running and maintaining the huge machines that produce dairy products in Victoria, including a period as engineering manager at the Stanhope Fonterra factory site, which marks 100 years on the site next month.
“I started out when I was 16. Every day I rode the bike from Koyuga South on sand roads to Tongala Milk Products,” he said. ....
