WCCB Charlotte s CW June 10, 2021 MONROE, N.C. A Monroe high school teacher was arrested and charged after he was accused of indecent liberties with a student. The investigation was initiated on May 25 by the Monroe Police Department after they received information about a teacher at Central Academy of Technology and Arts (CATA) engaging in inappropriate behavior with a student. Police said after an investigation, 35-year-old Cory McDowell, an English teacher at CATA, was charged and arrested on June 9 for indecent liberties by a teacher with a student. McDowell later went before the magistrate and received a secured bond. The Monroe Police Department say they are working closely with the Union Public Schools as the investigation continues. ....

A nontraditional branch of the YMCA of Greenville, the Judson facility is located next to Hollis Academy. The center is the only accredited afterschool program in Greenville, according to its website, and offers pre-school, after-school, and summer day camp programs. Staffers like Stephanie Knobel, executive director, are there to mentor and encourage. According to Massaro, now 29 and a mother, Knobel and (Corey McDowell) “did a really, really awesome job” supporting whoever came through the YMCA, making them believe in themselves and creating opportunities to where they could do things. ....

Richardson, The Denver Post) Denver Digs Trees It may seem a bit early to be thinking about spring, but now’s the time to apply for The Park People‘s tree distribution program, Denver Digs Trees. The annual program adds lots of green to city blocks by offering free and low-cost medium and large shade trees. All Denver residents are eligible to participate, regardless of where they live in the city. The cost is $35 per tree $10 if you live in one of the 28 targeted neighborhoods. Participants will rake in the savings, as the trees normally sell for $150. For 2021, only yard trees will be available; no street trees will be offered.
