DANVILLE, Va. â The SoVa Task Force is launching a survey today to assess the ongoing economic impact of COVID-19 on restaurants in the region. Restaurants can access the survey at this link. The survey also will be posted on the social media sites of the City of Danville Office of Economic Development, the Southern Virginia Regional Alliance and the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce. Restaurants in Danville will receive a postcard from the City of Danville Office of Economic Development with information about the survey. âWe recognize the restaurant industry has faced â and continues to face â tremendous challenges because of the pandemic,â said Corrie Bobe, director of economic development for the City of Danville. âRestaurant owners and operators were forced to close their dining rooms, reduce their hours, or close entirely. The Danville-Pittsylvania Regional Industrial Facility Authority (RIFA) approved a ground lease with RealtyLink Investments, LLC, for lots 3C and 3D in Cane Creek Centre at their meeting Monday. RealtyLink is a South Carolina limited liability company and will sublease the property, approximately 42 acres. The ground lease is replacing a contract of sale between the parties, which was dated November 2019. According to Danville Economic Development Director Corrie Bobe, this lease is for the AeroFarms project. AeroFarms announced their intention to locate an indoor vertical farming facility in the area in December 2019. Earlier this year, the board approved a furtherance of AeroFarmsâ performance agreement, which states the facility will be a capital investment of approximately $41.8 million, of which approximately $33.8 will be invested in machining and equipment. The remaining $8 million will be invested into the buildingâs construction. ....
During their meeting Tuesday, Danvilleâs Industrial Development Authority approved and authorized the extension of a purchase option for the White Mill, located at 424 Memorial Drive, to the Alexander Group. This extension for 90 days, according to Danville Economic Development Director Corrie Bobe, is to allow the company to finish its due diligence on the property. The option was originally granted on June 12, 2019 and expired on March 8. Now, the company has until June 6 to decide whether to proceed with the purchase. The Alexander Company is a Wisconsin-based developer specializing in historic preservation, urban revitalization and adaptive reuse. In 2019, the purchase option was granted to them for $3 million, which is the same price the IDA bought the property for from White Mill Development LLC in 2017. ....
