Enrique’s maximum sustained winds were down to 35 mph (55 kph) Wednesday morning, with its core centered about 35 miles northeast of the Baja California Sur state capital of La Paz. It was heading northwest up the Gulf of California at 7 mph (11 kph). Enrique moved past the Cabo Corrientes bulge during Sunday night, and began weakening as it headed toward a possible run at the resort area at the southern end of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula as a tropical storm by midweek. Enrique s maximum sustained winds were down to 60 mph (95 kph) by late Monday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said. ....

LaChat said that storm, combined with high pressure from the West Coast that’s driving extreme heat in the Pacific Northwest, is what s bringing moisture to the Valley. LaChat said the storms will also bring 30-40 mph winds which can easily kick up dust and obscure visibility.
