Seattle U hosted its annual Athletics Awards Show, a virtual event, on June 3. In what was truly a unique year for Athletics, it was a celebration of its senior class along with an awards ceremony covering the past year of achievements.
Ally Choate, 21, of softball earned the Female Student-Athlete of the Year. She hit a team-high .363 with 58 hits in 50 games, playing a vital role in the team’s run to the NCAA Tournament. The native of Yelm, Wash., has a 3.73 cumulative GPA while majoring in Humanities for Teaching with minors in mathematics and social welfare. Choate earned her third straight First Team All-WAC honor and was picked NFCA Third Team All-Region. She is a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and has claimed three Academic All-WAC selections. ....

Unity and pride in the jersey are fuelling the Capras under-18s in their Mal Meninga Cup campaign, according to skipper Jai Hansen.
The team is the first in the club’s history to finish on top of a QRL statewide competition ladder at the end of the regular season.
They were unbeaten in their six pool games are now gearing up to take on the Townsville Blackhawks in the semi-final on Saturday.
Hansen said he and his teammates could not wait for the 3.30pm kick-off at Brisbane’s BMD Kougari Oval.
“The Blackhawks are a very strong team, but we’ve just got to stick with the way we’ve been playing,” he said. ....

The CQ Capras under-18s can lay claim to a proud boast, becoming the first team in the clubâs history to finish on top of a QRL statewide competition ladder at the end of the regular season.
Coach Kane Hardy said it was the resilience and hard work of the players that had been instrumental in their march to the Mal Meninga Cup semi-finals.
The Capras were unbeaten in their six games in Pool B, piling on 244 points and conceding just 50 to finish on top of the ladder in the 15-team competition.
They will take on the winners of Pool A, the Townsville Blackhawks, in what promises to be an epic semi showdown at 3.30pm Saturday in Brisbane. ....
