Black Earth Compost CEO and founder Conor Miller addressed the Falmouth Solid Waste Advisory Committee on Tuesday, May 4, saying the companyâs âend goal is making good soilâ to improve the planet. Black Earth was founded in 2011 in Gloucester and has grown to become the leading full-service compost company in New England, according to its website. The company services everything from âsupermarkets down to offices and residences. The more stops, the more density, the lower everything can be priced. We try to pass any savings right on to customers,â Mr. Miller said. Compostable waste makes up about 36 percent of the total waste collected by weight, so taking it out of the waste stream is an important step. Black Earth is attempting to do just that. ....
