FBCL to reopen area locations in June

Fort Bend County Libraries began the process of reopening numerous locations to the public in March, and several more area libraries will soon be joining them. A news release from the library system said the Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch (8100 FM 359), First Colony Branch (2121 Austin Pkwy.), the Mamie George Branch in Stafford (320 Dulles Ave.) and the Sugar Land Branch (550 Eldridge Rd.) will resume in-person activities for patrons on June 4. Also reopening is the Mission Bend Branch at 8421 Addicks Clodine Rd. in Houston for mostly normal pre-pandemic operations. However, programming and events for children, teens and adults will remain online and in virtual formats.

May 3: Pot of Gold Classic Golf Tournament During Fort Bend Rainbow Room’s 10th annual Pot of Gold Classic Golf Tournament, members of the community can enjoy lunch and dinner, compete in a round of golf, and participate in an auction and raffle drawing. Proceeds from the event will support the Fort Bend Rainbow Room’s mission of supplying emergency and transitional supplies to meet the needs of the county’s abused and neglected children and adults. Sponsor opportunities as well as golfer and volunteer registration are available. 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. $150 (individual); $600 (team of four). Sweetwater Country Club, 4400 Palm Royale Blvd., Sugar Land.

Payne Elementary School) The Fort Bend County public library system has reopened five of its locations after being closed to the public due to the coronavirus outbreak. Library members will now be able to visit the following locations in person: George Memorial Library in Richmond, Cinco Ranch Branch Library in Katy, Missouri City Branch Library, Sienna Branch Library, and the University Branch Library in Sugar Land. According to Fort Bend County Libraries, the reopening permits visitors to browse book collections, complete a library-card application in person, use the computers and use study rooms on a limited basis.
