Even as broadcast network shows return to the air this month, production on programs at most of the major studios in Los Angeles did not resume as scheduled this week due to rising covid-19 cases.
Many series were pushed back to a Jan. 11 production restart and others, including NBC’s partially Pittsburgh-set “This is Us,” delayed production until Jan. 18. The “Grammy Awards” telecast, slated for Jan. 31, was postponed until March 14 and L.A.-based late-night shows starring Jimmy Kimmel and James Corden left their studios again and resumed taping from the hosts’ homes. ....

Fort Ligonier offers virtual 12th Night celebration

The band will play on for Fort Ligonier’s Twelfth Night celebration, just not in person.
One of the most popular programs at Ligonier’s reconstructed 18th-century fort, the fourth-annual Twelfth Night event will be held virtually on Jan. 9 because of covid-19 pandemic restrictions.
“It’s one of our most favorite events,” said Julie Donovan, the fort’s director of marketing and public relations. “It’s great to have this opportunity to make it virtual. We knew how much everyone was going to miss it.”
Participants will be able to enjoy the event’s period music and recipes at home this year, by paying a fee and registering to receive an online link. ....

At the intersection of Franklin and South Trenton avenues in Regent Square, an unassuming blue marker commemorates the spot where President George Washington once camped.
Good Question! asker Taylor Stessney noticed the sign, which dates the campsite to November 24, 1758.
“I was just curious, considering how it looks now with all these buildings and everything, what did this area look like at that time?”
That marker commemorates Forbes Road, a historic military route across Pennsylvania built during the French and Indian War. And Pittsburgh was at the heart of the conflict.
“It was just an unbelievable series of events.”
