There’s a river that flows right behind Billy Connolly’s Florida home, and he likes to fish in his slippers. The 78-year-old Scot has Pamela, his wife of over 30 years, and his dogs for company. After being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2013, the star recently announced he is officially taking a step back from doing live stand-up performances. In honour of his mighty career, ITV is airing Billy Connolly: It’s Been A Pleasure; a star-studded, one-off special which celebrates his funniest moments. ....

Why did you choose a career in property/placemaking?
It’s in the blood – I grew up working on Dad’s building sites in my holidays.
Who was your mentor and what was the best piece of advice they gave you?
My Dad, who said always be your authentic self (although I also love the JB Priestley quote: “Be yourself is about the worst advice you can give some people”!)
