Fire Dept taking all necessary steps to manage flood season

Friday, 08 Jan 2021 KOTA TINGGI: The Fire and Rescue Department is taking all the necessary steps to manage the floods that have hit six states in the country, with the situation possibly worsening as bad weather is set to continue until March this year. Its director-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Hamdan Wahid said among the measures were evacuating those placed under quarantine for Covid-19 at quarantine centres and hospitals if the area is hit by floods. “We are working closely with the Health Ministry on this matter because we cannot put those who have been tested positive for Covid-19 with other people at relief centres, ” he told a press conference after visiting the Kota Tinggi Fire station here yesterday.

Floods: Bomba to mobilise members, assets January 7, 2021 KOTA TINGGI – The Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) will mobilise its personnel and logistic assets to states which have been badly affected by floods, said its director-general Datuk Seri Mohammad Hamdan Wahid. He said currently, 12,500 members and officers from 320 fire and rescue stations throughout the country have been put on standby for deployment in case the flood situation worsens. Advertisement He said 220 to 280 land assets, 450 marine assets and five helicopters are also ready to be deployed at any moment. “Looking at the current (flood) situation and if it becomes critical, leave will be frozen but we believe these 12,500 firefighters are sufficient to deal with the case,” he said at a news conference in conjunction with his working visit to the Kota Tinggi Fire and Rescue Station here today.
