The past two weeks have seen more overt anti-Semitism in our streets than we have seen since the pro-Hezbollah demonstrations more than a decade ago. This newspaper is the first to stand for indivisible freedom of expression save and except for overt incitement to violence. That line has been crossed. Let the debate continue. What started out as anti-Israeli and pro-Palestinian demonstrations outside the Israeli Consulate opposing the Israeli bombing of Hamas in Gaza after that terrorist army launched 3200 rocket attacks against Israeli civilians, has morphed into physical attacks on Jews, threats against Jewish lives blared through Montrealâs streets and a riot by Palestinian supporters that laid siege to downtown. The actions and words of many of these demonstrators can accurately be characterized as anti-Semitism as they have been by many public officials and commentators. ....

After over 50 years, the City of Cote-St-Luc is urging Montreal to get the ball rolling on the expansion of Cavendish Blvd. “The cities, towns, and boroughs with an interest in the Cavendish extension have reached a consensus on this road project,” Cote St-Luc Mayor Mitchell Brownstein said in a statement. “The next step is for Montreal to send the project to the (provincial environmental hearings bureau) for review, as was announced a year ago.” Assistant manager for the City of Montreal Isabelle Cadrin gave “hope,” according to the release, to proponents of the long-awaited link between Cote St-Luc and the borough of Saint-Laurent at a December 3, 2019 meeting. At that time she said the project would be submitted for review to the provincial hearings bureau, or BAPE, in 2020. ....
