ANGOLA â Angola Parks and Recreation is bringing back free yoga classes for the summer. Instructors Lara Covey, Traci Rocho and Jessica Boyd will lead Yoga Basics classes every Saturday throughout the summer starting May 8. Classes will run 9-10 a.m. in Commons Park. Everyone is welcome to join these free classes regardless of experience. The first class on May 8 will take place at the Roman Beer stage in Commons Park off of John Street. For more information or to sign up for classes, visit the Angola Parks and Recreation Facebook page or call 665-1588. The return of yoga classes is part of returning programming to the Angola Parks department after many organized activities had to be canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. School Board hears plans for new classes Jessica Stölen-Jacobson Montevideo School Board members who are part of separate committees reported to the remainder of the board the news from the committee meetings over the past month at the regular monthly meeting Monday evening. One of the topics discussed was the Technology Committee meeting, in which board member Andrew Stenson was in attendance. He noted that one of the biggest topics of discussion at that meeting was the phone system that is currently 20 years old and will be upgraded this summer. Superintendent Luther Heller added that “I think one of the real keys is looking into the upgrading of the phone system. It is really an old phone system. It served us well but we’re starting to have difficulty with it so that’s an important update to have come on and it’s really important to look at as we look at long-term projects.” ....

Robert ‘Bob’ Loften age 78 of Osakis passed away early Feb. 3, 2021 at the McAllen Medical Center in McAllen, TX. Robert Allen was born on August 11, 1942 in Lakota, North Dakota to Chester and Katherine (Dougherty) Loften. He graduated from Lakota High School with the Class of 1961 having enjoyed participating in several sports during high school. Bob also learned to play percussion and trap drums and was soon playing on weekends with his father’s band. Bob attended Mayville State University in Mayville, ND to become a secondary Math and Science teacher. He married to Kathy Olson in 1962 and they raised five children, Tracie, Tammie, Lynette, Bryan and Nicole. After graduating with his Bachelor degree in 1965, Bob was first hired by the Kensal Public School in Kensal, ND, where he taught for three years. (Bob later completed his Masters degree from North Dakota State University in 1975.) While in Kensal, Bob was both the Jr. Varsity and Varsity Bask ....
