Share No date set for Bokor election Mon, 5 April 2021 The National Election Committee (NEC) said it was set to hold a council election for the newly established Bokor town in Kampot province, though no date has been set. In a press relased dated February 2, NEC said the law requires that an election be held for any newly created provincial, municipal, district or commune council. The election must be held no later than 240 days after the new governing entity is established. Bokor town was established through a sub-decree on March 16. Its creation required the communes of Boeung Touk, Koh Touch and Prek Tnort be split from Teuk Chhou district and reassigned to the new town. ....
Share Hopes for second Kampot town Wed, 31 March 2021 A recently-minted coastal town in the southwestern province of Kampot has generated very high hopes for investment, development and jobs in the area. The government issued a sub-decree on March 16 to establish Bokor town in the western reaches of the province, adjacent to the western edge of Kampot town and comprised of three communes formerly in Teuk Chhou district – Prek Tnort, Koh Touch and Boeung Touk from west to east. The new town will have significant overlap with Bokor National Park – which extends to bordering districts and neighbouring Preah Sihanouk province – and will house the park’s main attractions. ....

FB Kampot working groups eye up land in ownership row Sun, 7 March 2021 Three working groups assigned by the Kampot Provincial Administration are currently inspecting and identifying land in Koh Touch and Boeung Touk communes of Teuk Chhou district after more than 160 families complained about a public notice of judgment regarding title to the land. The 160 families claimed they have legal rights of possession for some of the land located there. According to an announcement on March 2, provincial governor Cheav Tay has assigned the working groups to inspect and identify whether the land there belongs to the complainants, and if so which portions belong to which families. ....
