Colombo (News 1st); Official sources have expressed surprise at the mention of the approval by the Indian High Commission to Sri Lanka with regard to the Public-Private Partnership with the Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited on the West Container Terminal project of the Colombo South Port.
Sources stressed that the investments in Sri Lanka are purely decided by the Government of Sri Lanka and not the Indian High Commission.
On Tuesday (02), the Cabinet of Ministers granted approval for the proposal to develop the West Container Terminal of the Colombo with Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ Consortium) and its local representative and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. ....

The Rajapakse government this week mobilised the military to break a national strike by thousands of junior hospital staff who walked out in a sick-leave campaign on February 24–25.
The blatant repression of health workers’ democratic right to take industrial action is a serious warning to the entire working class. New Delhi: The Quad countries — Japan, India, Australia and the US — will continue to work closely together to promote their vision, and are making progress towards their commitment for a greater “strategic convergence”, according to Satoshi Suzuki, Japan’s Ambassador to India.
