£3 million impact of missed appointments on Cumbrian NHS trust

MISSED appointments potentially lost North Cumbria Integrated Care Trust £3 million during the pandemic, new data shows.
Failed appointments waste time and heap pressure on consultants who already face “extraordinary demand” due to the virus, the British Medical Association has said.
NHS Digital data shows that in the 11 months from April last year, there were 20,970 outpatient appointments which people did not show up for.
It means out of 272,885 booked sessions, just eight per cent were unattended.
Anna Stabler, Chief Nurse said: “We would urge anyone who cannot make an appointment to get in touch with us as soon as possible and arrange for a date or time that is more convenient. ....

WORCESTERSHIRE Acute Hospitals Trust potentially lost more than £3 million due to thousands of missed appointments through the pandemic, figures show.
The failed appointments waste time and heap pressure on consultants who already face “extraordinary demand” due to the virus, says the British Medical Association.
NHS Digital data shows that in the 11 months from April last year, there were 19,865 outpatient appointments which people did not show up for.
It means out of 514,220 booked sessions, 4% were unattended.
And with the average outpatient appointment costing £160 – as estimated by several NHS trusts – the no-shows may have cost Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust around £3.2 million. ....

It means out of 490,580 booked sessions, 6% were unattended.
And with the average outpatient appointment costing £160 – as estimated by several NHS trusts – the no-shows may have cost Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust around £4.4 million. ....
