Xiao and Moses to join US Congressional panel overseeing USOPC reform

Han Xiao, Karin Korb, Patty Cisneros Prevo and Edwin Moses are among the latest confirmed appointments to a Congressional Commission established by the Empowering Olympic and Amateur Athletes Act which will examine the United States Olympic and Paralympic Movement.
The four appointments were confirmed by Frank Pallone, chair of the Committee on Energy and Commerce of the House of Representatives, Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee chair Jan Schakowsky and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee chair Diana DeGette.
A statement from the committee said Pallone made his appointments in close consultation with Schakowsky and DeGette. ....

Stockwell among appointments to Congressional body assessing USOPC reform

Paralympian Melissa Stockwell and University of Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens have been selected to serve on a Congressional commission which will examine the United States Olympic and Paralympic Movement.
Stockwell and Mullens will be joined by former Indiana governor Mitch Daniels and former Defense Department inspector general Joe Schmitz.
The quartet were selected by outgoing Republican House of Representatives member Greg Walden.
As we continue our work to ensure athletes have a safe, welcoming environment - and undertake serious reforms at the highest level of sport - I am pleased to announce my appointments to the Commission on the State of US Olympics and Paralympics, Walden said. ....

The financial picture for Nebraska athletics is not as bad as originally feared this tumultuous year, thanks largely to an improved outlook for Big Ten Conference media revenue sharing.
Athletic department officials have been mostly mum since the onset of Covid-19 about the size of the TV payout this year from conference revenue sharing, which amounted to $54 million last year.
But John Jentz, the athletic department’s chief financial officer, said the conference recently provided an update on projected revenues from media rights for the current fiscal year. Jentz called the outlook “encouraging.”
Big Ten teams will make around $42 million in 2020-21 in TV media rights money. (University of Nebraska) ....
