Gathering restrictions to continue in Illinois
Illinois will continue with public gathering restrictions in place for the immediate future. Gov. J.B. Pritzker was noncommittal Monday on when the state could move from Phase 4 to his Bridge Phase.
On Tuesday morning, the governor joined Chicago city officials to discuss the city’s plans on reopening things further, including a return of the Chicago Auto Show at McCormick Place.
This afternoon, the governor will be in Sparta to promote COVID-19 vaccination.
Prison population in Illinois nearly 70% vaccinated

In person visits to resume at Lincoln and Logan Corrections

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) is resuming in-person visitation at its correctional facilities, affording incarcerated people the opportunity to see their loved ones for the first time in more than a year. Visitation will start at Lincoln and Logan Correctional Center on May 3, 2021.
IDOC acting director Rob Jeffreys said his top concern was health and well being.
“Maintaining family connection is a vital component of an incarcerated person’s mental and emotional well-being,” said Jeffreys.
“Because of the aggressive measures the Department has taken to mitigate COVID-19 within our facilities, IDOC is one of the few correctional systems in the nation now reopening to visitors.” ....

In-person visits to resume at Illinois correctional facilities

The Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) is resuming in-person visitation at its correctional facilities statewide that were halted because of the pandemic.
Visitations will start at Lincoln, Logan and Menard correctional centers on May 3. It will be the first time in a year incarcerated people will have the opportunity to see loved ones.
IDOC acting director Rob Jeffreys said his top concern was health and well-being.
