West Norfolk new homes will have swift boxes | Eastern Daily Press

Swift numbers are declining due to loss of habitat.

Councillors have agreed to proposals to install swift, bee or bat boxes on new homes.
West Norfolk council s environment and community panel was addressed by one of its members, Andy Bullen.
He said he was calling on the borough to support birds and animals which depended on people for survival such as swifts, bats, bees, hedgehogs and house martins.
He said swifts had declined from 133,000 pairs in 1994 to 52,000 in 2019, while hedgehogs had fallen by 30pc since 2000.
If the decline continues it will not be long until we have few swifts in west Norfolk but we can do something about it, he said. ....

SAN JOSE A federal jury convicted Michael Kail, the former Vice President of IT Operations at Netflix, of wire fraud, mail fraud, and money laundering, announced Acting United States Attorney Stephanie M. Hinds, IRS-Criminal Investigation Acting Special Agent in Charge Michael Daniels, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Craig D. Fair. The verdict follows a two-week and a half week trial before the Honorable Beth L. Freeman, U.S. District Judge.
Kail was indicted May 1, 2018, of nineteen counts of wire fraud, three counts of mail fraud, and seven counts of money laundering, in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 1341 (mail fraud), 1343 (wire fraud), 1346 (honest services fraud), and 1957 (money laundering). The indictment also sought forfeiture of Kail s Los Gatos residential property. The jury returned a verdict of guilty on 28 of the 29 counts. ....

A former employee of the Twitter social media site, who is accused of spying for Saudi Arabia against its critics, is fighting for the charges against him to be dismissed under state law in California.
Ahmad Abouammo, a duel US-Lebanese citizen and father of three, was the manager of media partnerships for Twitter s Middle East and North Africa region between November 2013 and May 2015. He is accused of having used his position and the access he had to provide Saudi Arabia with the private details of dissidents and critics of the Kingdom using the site. ....

Man Accused of Helping Saudi Arabia Spy on Critics Seeks Dismissal of Charges

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) A former Twitter employee accused of helping Saudi Arabia spy on its critics argued in court Wednesday that he cannot be prosecuted for wire fraud because Twitter’s private user data is not considered property under California law.
Ahmad Abouammo, who managed media partnerships for Twitter’s Middle East and North Africa region from November 2013 to May 2015, is accused of using his inside access to supply Saudi Arabia with private information on dissidents in exchange for at least $100,000 in cash and a $20,000 watch.
Abouammo, a dual U.S.-Lebanese citizen and father of three in his early 40s who lives in Seattle, was arrested in November 2019 and released on bond following a protracted legal battle over his detention. ....
