A PLANNING application has been submitted for a £46 million new high school at Wallyford as major new housebuilding in the area continues. The Wallyford Learning Campus would be constructed on farmland west of Masons Way and is expected to take about two years to build. A playground, sports pitches, landscaping, fencing, lighting, CCTV and an external storage enclosure are included in the plan, which has been lodged by East Lothian Council for the site next to Inchview Crescent, north of the new Wallyford Primary School. About 2,050 new homes are set to be built in the Wallyford area. In April 2016, approval was given by the council to consult on the proposal to establish a new, additional secondary school in Wallyford to serve the Musselburgh area. ....
A RUGBY club’s gym refurbishment has received a boost, thanks to a charity named after its former president. The Walk With Scott Foundation (WWSF) handed over £3,000 to Ross High RFC, adding to the club’s own fundraising efforts. The donation will allow the club to finish the gym refurbishment. Scott Glynn, who created the foundation, was president at the rugby club, based on Tranent’s Blawearie Road, from 2005 to 2014. Councillor Colin McGinn, who represents Tranent on East Lothian Council, is vice-chairman of the Walk With Scott Foundation. He said: “WWSF recognises Ross High RFC’s prominent role at the heart of its community. Ross High RFC supports not just rugby but other sports across all ages, as well as a large number of other community events. ....
