Columbia College and partners celebrate Nadria Wright scholarship

Treece made his statement Wednesday at Columbia College during a celebration and reception for the new Nadria Leeann Wright Memorial Nursing Scholarship, which was unveiled last week on what would have been Wright s 20th birthday.
Nadria was 18 when she died on Sept. 13, 2019. A freshman nursing student at Columbia College, she was a passenger in a car when she was struck by a gunshot intended for the driver.
Columbia College teamed up with Regional Economic Development Inc. and the Missouri Women s Business Center to offer the scholarship.
The scholarship will be awarded for the first time in 2022, assisting nursing majors with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and facing financial hardship. The amount of the endowed scholarship will vary from year to year. ....

Columbia Public Schools, local universities and colleges among organizations to lift mask requirements
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Several organizations including Mizzou and Columbia Public Schools will be lifting their mask requirements in the coming days.
According to a news release from the Columbia city manager s office, several establishments are changing their COVID-19 policies. Starting June 1, masks will no longer be required in city or county buildings. Both the city and county still advise people who are not vaccinated to wear masks. Masks will still be required on public transportation and at transportation hubs.
Columbia Public Schools will no longer require masks indoors or on buses starting June 4. People can still choose to wear masks. According to the news release, the district may change its policies if the COVID-19 case rates start to increase. ....

Swift Prepared Foods To Build New Italian Meats And Charcuterie Production Facility In Missouri
Swift Prepared Foods, a consumer packaged goods company and subsidiary of JBS USA, will Invest $200M to build a new Italian meats and charcuterie production facility in Columbia, Missouri. The company plans to create 251 jobs.
A 275,000-square-foot plant is scheduled to open next year, followed a few years later by an additional 50,000-square-foot building costing $35M. The location is 80 acres along Paris Road, next to Schneider Electric and 3M and near Kraft Heinz, Aurora Organic Dairy and Quaker.
