Sonora Pool Sonora, CA After being shut down due to COVID, swimmers will be able to get relief from the current heat at a second pool in Tuolumne County. Tuolumne County Recreation Manager Eric Aitken tells Clarke Broadcasting the Sonora Pool will be reopened for recreational swimming beginning tomorrow (Wednesday, July 7). He outlined that the pool’s schedule will be recreational swimming on Sundays from 1-5 p.m. and Mondays-Fridays from 1-4:30 p.m. The county’s swimming programs were relaunched in mid-June with Twain Harte Pool opening first after Aitken announced that there was only enough staff to open one of the county’s four pools, as reported here. Council to consider Columbia Pool final project Revision of Elected Officials’ Handbook on agenda The Turlock City Council is expected to consider approving a $6.3 million renovation project of Columbia Pool at their Tuesday meeting (Journal file photo). A revamped Columbia Pool may be one step closer to reality following Tuesday’s Turlock City Council meeting, as the Council is expected to make a decision on how to move forward with the project. In July 2020, the PARC and the Council held a special joint meeting where they were presented with several options for a remodel of Columbia Pool. While the pool is currently closed due to COVID, a facility evaluation study conducted last fall found a total of 18 violations which would keep the pool shut down even without a pandemic. The third child of four born to Holger and Elsie Christoffersen, Delores grew up in Turlock and attended the local schools including Turlock High School. She enjoyed playing basketball, ping pong with her dad, and archery in the basement of the “girl’s gym”. She met Stanley Rodmen Sondeno, and though he was older they knew there was something real. Stan attended San Jose State and then went into the Air Force before marrying Miss Christoffersen. He hitch-hiked home for the wedding, but he made it and they were married on October 3, 1953.
