Syracuse, N.Y. Pyramid Cos. founder Robert J. Congel, head of the shopping mall empire that includes Destiny USA, has died at age 85.
Congel’s son Stephen J. Congel, CEO of the company founded by his father, confirmed Thursday evening that the developer died on Wednesday at his home in Manlius.
“I can confirm the passing of my father, Robert J. Congel yesterday afternoon,” Stephen Congel said in a statement. “He passed away very peacefully at home with his wife and 5 children at his side. Those that knew him know he was a force of nature, a visionary who saw many of his dreams realized, while challenging us constantly with many more to fulfill. ....

Founder of Destiny, Sangertown Square's Parent Company Has Died

A Central New York visionary who was instrumental in the construction of New York State s largest mall has died.
Robert J. Congel, the founder of Pyramid Management Group, which owns Destiny USA, died Wednesday afternoon in his home in Manlius, with his wife and five children by his side. Congel s son and PMG s current CEO, Stephen J. Congel, announced the news in a statement, writing that he and his family deeply appreciate the expression of sympathy from friends and family, colleagues, the community and business partners during this difficult time.
Those that knew him know he was a force of nature, a visionary who saw many of his dreams realized, while challenging us constantly with many more to fulfill, Congel said, according to Spectrum Local News. WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - New Hanover County Schools (NHCS) has come a long way in its efforts to effectively deal with sexual assault, and itâs letting the public know about it.
NHCS formed a Title IX committee in the Spring of 2019, in the wake of public outcry over the sexual assault of students by their teachers that spanned over the course of decades. Parents and victims complained of systemic issues that allowed the abuse to continue for years after they say it could have and should have been stopped. ....

New Hanover County Schools is looking to revamp their district-wide Title IX survey. Proposed questions would include topics on discrimination, bullying, and school climate. And
maybe one on sexual harassment.
Title IX is a law that bans discrimination on the basis of sex in any federally-supported education program or activity. It has also been used in court cases to prevent sexual harassment and abuse.

With this proposed anonymous and voluntary survey for students, the school system would explore further issues with Title IX compliance. But contention around adding a certain question is partially to blame for its delayed rollout. ....
