Palm Coast welder and 'Star Wars' fanatic Keith DeDeo 'becomes' the Mandalorian

It took Palm Coast resident Keith DeDeo a year to craft his Mandalorian costume. When he wears it at fan events and charity functions, he becomes the Star Wars character.
“It’s not hard to act like the character once you’re dressed up,” he says. “People will come up to you. I pretty much keep quiet. The cool thing is with the costume on you’re pretty much the character.”
DeDeo, a welder and heavy equipment operator at St. Augustine Marine Center, fabricated the costume from PVC Sintra board during his spare time. He heated the plates, shaped them, sanded them, painted them and weathered them to look like Mandalorian armor. ....

Body of Ritchy Volmar, 18, Recovered by Divers in Intracoastal Near Bings Landing After Nearly 24-Hour Search

Two Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation divers found and recovered the body of 18-year-old Ritchy Volmar just after noon today (Feb. 25) in the waters of the Intracoastal not far from Bings Landing in the Hammock. His family was informed soon afterward.
Authorities had been searching for Volmar since shortly after his friend called 911 Wednesday afternoon, before 3 p.m., to report that they’d been jet skiing together until Volmar fell off and was lost to sight. His friend attempted to find him, but unsuccessfully. The report triggered a nearly 24-hour search that involved the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, fire rescue teams, FWC and the county’s emergency helicopter. ....

Note: Community Celebration Series performances are at Flagler Auditorium, 5500 East Hwy. 100, Palm Coast. Tickets for each show are $32 plus $2 service fee. The African American Cultural Society s 18th-annual Youth Black History Reality Show will be online this year, due to the pandemic.
We all know Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and Frederick Douglass. But who are the other great black voices of the past?
For 18 years, the African American Cultural Society has hosted the Youth Black History Reality Show, giving local children and teens a chance to research the answer to that question and present their findings to a live audience. This year, it will be online only, but Program Chairperson Jeanette Wheeler hopes that can give the show an even broader audience. ....
