Date Time Boeing Contributes $1.1 Million for Asian American and Pacific Islander Support Organizations Across U.S Today, in observance of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in the United States, Boeing [NYSE: BA] announced the company is donating $1.1 million to organizations working to combat anti-Asian hate and promote justice, advance appreciation for AAPI history and culture, and fund community service projects and leadership development programs in communities across the United States. “At Boeing, we know that being a truly equitable, diverse and inclusive company requires a commitment to our team members here at the company and in the communities where our employees and partners live and work. CC Yin: Longtime Chinese American Civic Leader and Entrepreneur CC Yin, a Chinese American, was born in Chengdu, Sichuan, China, in 1937. He and his family fled to Taiwan after Communists took over China from the Nationalists in 1949. He arrived at America in 1964. With $100 in his pocket and little English, Yin followed a career as a civil engineer. In 1984, he brought a failing McDonald’s restaurant in Oakland and successfully made a profit. Now Yin operates a fast-food empire with 30 McDonald’s restaurants in Northern Cal ....
BSA Troop 606 Honors 9 Eagle Scouts Yasmine Fukushima is Irvine s first female to achieve the rank. Posted On IRVINE Scouts BSA Troop 606, led by former Boys’ Scoutmaster Greg Nylen (currently Chris Bank) and Girls’ Scoutmaster Thomas Doherty and chartered by the University United Methodist Church in Irvine, is proud to announce nine scouts who recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout at its first-ever virtual Eagle Court of Honor ceremony that was held on Feb. 8. This class of Eagle Scouts includes Irvine’s first female Eagle Scout. Scouts BSA, formerly Boy Scouts of America, has officially allowed females to join the scouting program and earn the rank of Eagle Scout since Feb. 1, 2019. Troop 606 was one of the first in Irvine to welcome female scouts and Yasmin Fukushima has been inducted as one of 1,000 in the inaugural class of female Eagle Scouts that was honored by a National Scouts BSA on Feb. 20, 2021. ....

(Photo courtesy of Little Tokyo Community Council) The Little Tokyo Community Council (LTCC) has awarded a total of $100,000 in grant funding to 50 small businesses in Little Tokyo that have faced significant revenue losses as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. During the first round of distributions in November 2020, $2,000 grants were given to 25 of the community’s small businesses, a majority of them being legacy small businesses that have been open for more than 20 years, and the second round will help support 25 more treasured businesses that contribute to the cultural identity of the neighborhood. ....
Maybe We Should Just Go Back As Kito tries to keep up with orders and crowds, Suehiro owner Suzuki is contemplating whether to stay in the restaurant business. While a second smaller Suehiro site in Chinatown has sustained itself with serving predominantly take-out, business at the flagship restaurant is half of what it is normally, even with dine-in available. Suzuki still feels for Kouraku s owner Yamauchi his dearest friend in Little Tokyo who spent the last months before his death pained over plummeting sales and having to let go many of his employees. He ended up having to be the server and he was doing things that he normally didn t do before, Suzuki said. ....
