Plymouth County Mosquito Control accepting spray requests

Wicked Local PLYMOUTH – The threat of mosquito-borne diseases is real with mosquito season upon us, but not everyone agrees with the use of pesticides for killing mosquitoes. The Plymouth County Mosquito Control Project, a state agency overseen by the state Reclamation and Mosquito Control Board located at 272 South Meadow Road in Plymouth, conducts both ground and aerial spraying each year. The main concerns in Plymouth County, according to Plymouth County Mosquito Control Project Superintendent Ross Rossetti, are West Nile virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis, two rare but deadly diseases with no known cure. They belong to a group of viruses known as arbovirus that are transmitted by infected mosquitoes, ticks and insects.
