Commission approves €4 million Danish tax deferral scheme to support SMEs affected by coronavirus outbreak

The European Commission has approved a €4 million (DKK 30 million) Danish aid scheme for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) affected by the coronavirus outbreak. The scheme was approved under the state aid Temporary Framework. The public support will take the form of interest-free credit facilities in relation to wage taxes due by SMEs. The aim of the scheme is to ease the liquidity constraints faced by those employers that are SMEs and have been most severely affected by the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak, thus helping them to continue their activities. The Commission found that the Danish scheme is in line with the conditions set out in the Temporary Framework. ....

Officers have been stationed in the streets of Holland and other Dutch towns and cities to prevent more violence should protests go on for a fourth night. On Monday, a total of 184 people were arrested after the third night of unrest and more than 1,700 fines for breaking the 9pm to 4:30am curfew were issued. ....

As the national coronavirus curfew came into effect on Saturday, protests and violent riots broke out across the Netherlands. Rioters targeted a hospital in Enschede and set fire to a GGD test site in Urk. Hundreds of people were arrested.
January 23 marks first night of curfew
The national curfew came into effect at 9pm on January 23. The first night saw the police issue over 3.600 95-euro fines for violations of the curfew. 25 people were arrested. However, the police did note that, of the people who were stopped and checked during curfew hours, 80 percent carried the necessary government forms.  ....
