WBBJ TV July 14, 2021 JACKSON, Tenn. Jackson State Community College will be returning to in-person sessions starting this fall. Jackson State is hosting a reopening event at the Student Center on July 31 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. to celebrate the return of in-person learning. “Students and the community can come check out the campus, they can apply, they can test to see what level of classes they need, they can register for courses, and they complete orientation all in the same day,” said Kyle Barron, Vice President of Student Services. Athletics Celebrates Student-Athletes at YJC THE FLATS – Georgia Tech athletics recognized the achievements of its student-athletes over the past year during its annual Yellow Jacket Celebration on Monday evening at McCamish Pavilion. Nicole Fegans and Moses Wright headlined the honorees, earning GTAA Athletes of the Year for their outstanding performances this past season. One of Georgia Tech’s most decorated distance runners in program history, Nicole Fegans embodies the true meaning of being a student-athlete. This season, she placed 12th overall at NCAA Cross Country Championships, guiding Tech to its best finish in school history at nationals, earning all-American status to become just the third women’s runner at Tech to do so. During the 2021 indoor season she continued her dominance as she was named an all-American in the 5K at the national meet. Jackson State Community College announced Tuesday that a limited number of emergency relief grants are available to students who faced hardships that impacted their education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The college says the grant will pay the tuition for up to two classes during the Summer 2021 semester. Applicants must be a returning or continuing JSCC student, who due to COVID: Dropped out of college; or Completed fewer than 12 hours per semster; or Failed a course There are approximately 300 grants available that will be issued on a first come, first serve basis. “We anticipate these grants to go quickly,” Dr. Kyle Barron, Vice President of Student Services stated. “Anyone interested in this opportunity should apply right away.” ....
