Premium Content Subscriber only Several community art programs will share more than $48,000, thanks to a recent funding approval from Gladstone Regional Council. In a general meeting on May 4, Gladstone Regional Council heard 11 applications were received for the Regional Arts Development Fund Round One for 2020-21. Councillors voted unanimously to fund seven of the 11 applications. Gladstone Independent Schools Music Association, Boyne Tannum Arts Business Community Association, Ping Carlyon, Sharon Hare, Kathryn Apel, Luke Graham and Rosedale State School will share $48,685.97 for art projects across the region. General manager Community Development and Events Kylie Lee said a majority of the applications were of “very high calibre”. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only The 2021 Santos GLNG Mayor’s Carols has been granted more than $33,000 in funding despite receiving a less than favourable assessment score from a council panel. In a general meeting on May 4, Gladstone Regional Council voted unanimously to fund the Mayor’s Carols $33,709.45 in kind after the event received a panel score of 54 per cent. An additional $7000 in kind was also granted pending Covid-19 restrictions that may be applicable at the time of the event. Panel assessment is undertaken by a panel comprising of council representatives, and using an assessment matrix to score each application against Key Selection Criteria (KSC) to determine an order of merit. ....

In a general meeting on April 6, Gladstone Regional Council officially welcomed the applicants who are from Gladstone, Agnes Water, Calliope, Burua, Tannum Sands and Boyne Island. Aaron Yea, Alexa Marxsen, Brooke Assman, Charlise Falconer, Layla Dow, Rommiel Malig, Stella Porter, Tayla Cubis, William Patrick and Gypsy Cantwell have all been appointed. Community Development and Events general manager Kylie Lee said the youth council would participate in the Mayor’s Youth Breakfast, Youth Ally Pilot Program against domestic and family violence, Youth Week, Volunteer’s Week, Seniors Week and Mental Health Week. ....
