Softball: Southern Alamance ousts defending 3A champion Eastern Alamance with Gallagher s walk-off hit

Updated May 6, 2021 6:45 a.m. EDT By Zack Adams, HighSchoolOT reporter MT. HERMON, N.C. Southern Alamance is going to the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 3A softball playoffs following a walk-off victory. The Patriots won a 5-4 thriller against the defending 3A state champions Eastern Alamance on Wednesday night. Southern Alamance saw its four-run edge slip during the sixth inning, but stayed true to the course and walked it off with one down in the seventh. Brianna Gallagher, a junior center fielder for SA, was able to please the home crowd with an RBI double against Eastern junior pitcher Kenna Raye Dark towards the left field corner on the warning track. That two-bag hit allowed sophomore Greta Hessenthaler (five-pitch walk) to score all the way from first base.

The Daily Northwestern | Queer Creativity

March 10, 2021 During their time at Northwestern, Lindz Amer (Communication ’14) was not a “StuCo hotshot.” They weren’t cast in shows, didn’t get into the playwriting sequence and didn’t have a reputation for being one of the stars of the theater department. Seven years later, the nonbinary alum is coming off of a four-season run of “Queer Kid Stuff,” a webseries for kids centered around queer narratives that became a 2018 Webby honoree. Episodes touch on topics from what it means to be gay to mental health, privilege and pride. Amer’s senior thesis work at Northwestern, centered on queer representation in children’s theatre, provided the background for “Queer Kid Stuff.”
