Cumbria Constabulary issues e-scooter warning


CUMBRIA Constabulary has urged people to fully understand the law before buying or riding an electric scooter following a ‘surge of anti-social behaviour’ involving the vehicles.
E-scooters are illegal to use on roads, footpaths, cycle tracks/lanes, bridleways, or byways and privately owned scooters can only be ridden legally on private land with the owner s consent.
E-scooters have become increasingly popular after the Government permitted rental scheme trials in several UK cities including Birmingham last year.
However, while the use of rental e-scooters is now legal in some parts of the UK, the force has reminded people that it remains against the law to ride a privately owned e-scooter in any public place in the UK. ....
