Covid PPE given free to worshippers by East London Mosque

Supplies of free masks and other Covid-infection prevention items are being distributed free to worshippers in the East End from all faiths.
They include face coverings, hand sanitisers and disposable prayer mats for Muslim people.
Volunteers are also ready to help places of worship with any questions about Covid-19 issues, including risk assessments and vaccination.
“We want to support all faith centres to stay open safely,” volunteer Atikur Khan explained. “Our free supplies will help worshippers to visit buildings in safety, at a time when many places have been hard hit financially.” ....

LONDON: The historic monument, Tower Bridge, echoes with Azaan given by British-Muslim entrepreneur to mark the last Friday of Ramadan 2021.
Kazi Shafiqur Rehman, 35, delivered Azaan in the style of the Grand Mosque’s head muezzin, Sheikh Ali Ahmad Mulla. While giving a call to prayer on the UK’s popular historic monument, he wore a white thobe and Saudi ghutra as part of an inter-faith virtual iftar.
Mulla has been serving as the head muezzin at the Grand Mosque since 1975 and Muslims all around the globe recognise his voice irrespective of whether they have visited the Grand Mosque or not. The Azaan at the Tower Bridge was given during an Iftar hosted by Tower Hamlet Homes, East London Mosque, London Muslim Center, and Tower Hamlets Interfaith Forum. While talking to Arab News, Rehman said that he felt satisfaction after delivering Azaan publicly and too from the Tower Bridge. ....

Just as the sun set over the horizon on the last Friday of Ramadan, a British-Muslim delivered the adhan on London’s Tower Bridge.
Kazi Shafiqur Rahman, who was part of an interfaith virtual iftar on Friday, delivered the adhan in a style akin to Sheikh Ali Ahmad Mulla, head muezzin of the Grand Mosque in Makkah.
“I am just an ordinary individual and for me to be blessed with such an opportunity is humbling,” he was quoted as saying in an Arab News report. ....

British-Muslim entrepreneur brings Ramadan to a close performing adhan over London's Tower Bridge

LONDON: A British-Muslim entrepreneur serenaded London’s Tower Bridge with the adhan as the sun set over the British landmark on the last Friday of Ramadan 2021.
Kazi Shafiqur Rahman, 35, delivered the adhan in the style of the Grand Mosque’s head muezzin, Sheikh Ali Ahmad Mulla, wearing a white thobe and Saudi ghutra on Friday as part of an interfaith virtual iftar.
It is a style that he has perfected since childhood and has fueled the British-Bangladeshi’s passion for performing the adhan in public.
Mulla has been a muezzin at the Grand Mosque since 1975 and his voice is recognized by Muslims worldwide regardless of whether they have visited Makkah. ....

An East London further education college, with campuses in Tower Hamlets and Hackney, has donated all its personal protection equipment to local GPs and hospitals including The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel and St Guys and Thomas hospital.
Alison Arnaud, principal of the Tower Hamlets and Hackney campus of New City College said the college’s stock of PPE had become redundant when the lockdown began last March.
She was speaking at a meeting of the Tower Hamlets Faith Forum, an organisation which improves communication between different faiths in the community. The online event addressed the effects COVID-19 has had on the borough particularly addressing education. ....
